I had 2 sales my first week. That Sunday, I woke up with my whole body numb and i had lost some of my motor skills. I had trouble holding a glass of water and moving my fingers as well as walking. I told my boss at the time Chris Burges that i needed to go to a doctor so I needed Monday off.. He straight up said i was full of shit.. Next thing I know, I get a phone call from another APX manager telling me i need to pack my stuff and leave, in other words.. your fired.. So i packed up, left, came back to Texas and had test and labwork done to see why my body was numb and i lost my motor skills. After visiting a nuerologist, taking an MRI and a Lumber Puncture, results showed that I have MS, Multiple Sclerosis. I dont think its fair that they fired me for having an MS relaps. Anything I can do? Words of advice?

Re: My APX Story

Apex is now vivint

Re: My APX Story

This company is one of the worst that I have come across. i have a similar story about them. Though they resolved my issue after a while of fighting, I don't think this company should still be in business.

Re: My APX Story

No problem

Re: My APX Story

Great APX info!

Re: My APX Story

In Aug,2010, An APX rep. came to my door.I was busy, but also simply felt something didn't add up. HE HAD TOLD ME MY CURRENT ALARM SYSTEM WAS SENDING FALSE ALARMS TO THE POLICE STATION .
He returned 4 times!!! The last time, a friend came to my door, and said she had signed up.She also said the guy would be coming back to my house....I again told him NO THANKS.
I told my friend, that something did not add up.( I had nothing to go on except a bad feeling )
I contacted 2 alarm companies that confirmed my misgivings...especially, when my friend admitted she was one of the chosen 5.
The guy actually took a void check from her, supposedly to take $99.00 from her account ,assuring her it was just for show.
(He made a phone call granting him permission )She agreed to cancel ,but changed her mind.
The next day,I went to see her and asked if she had cancelled...she said no, she had called someone who told her everything checked out .
I asked to see the invoice, and saw this FREE $99.00 alarm, was $699.00 on the invoice.Other charges added up to a total of over $1800.00 !!!
At this point (according to THEIR contract) She only had one day left to cancel.(this had to be done in writing ) I convinced her to write out her desire to cancel and FAX it to them and keep a copy.(Fax machine was at the drugstore, so I advised her to ask the pharmasist to sign as a wittness. She recieved a call from the guy a week later, wanting his $99.00 dollars back, saying this money came from his personal account AS A FAVOR TO HER!!!!
I had also informed the local police,as did one of the legitimate alarm companies i had contacted at my request.
I never heard anything about it until i found this sight .I'm very relieved that I'm not nuts ! So is my friend .
They seem to target women living alone and seniors. TURDS!
If something feels wrong ....TRUST THAT FEELING LesliAnn from Nova Scotia
THEN call her bank and put a STOP PAYMENT on the check. She did. Thank goodness.

The next day,he went to her house with $99.00 IN CASH...NOT from her account.

Re: My APX Story

Even I am frustrated by their service. One day they came to my door and told me they were there to upgrade my present system but after that they said my alarm would go directly to the police station instead of a central monitoring company. I really didn't understand what was goign around.

Re: My APX Story

APX Is my security provider, and I am a 100% satisfied with their service.
I do not believe for one moment that half of the negative reviews on here are from real customers os apx, because I would like to believe that if these people have the clear ability to write, they would have enough brain power to read a ONE PAGE contract and decide for themselves if they want the PAID CONTRACTED SERVICE, they have been offered, key word OFFERED.
I have 7 properties, 4 residential and 3 comercial. ALL have APX alarm systems. I was approached by one of their young men, last year and went through the same thing you all, so bitterly complain about, let me delineate:
- The salesmen are just that, salesmen, they WILL want you to make a decision on the spot (THEY DO NOT WORK FOR FREE, as I am sure none of you bitter people do). So make up your mind.
- They are ALWAYS, knowledgeable about the product, and they explain everything included, and I even talked to the company on the phone before they left my house.
-I find it hard to believe ANYONE CAN BE FORCED to acquire something like that, unless they tie you down and point a gun at you (in which case you should call the police).
-As it was with me, you all have SEVERAL chances to say no, several, if you get the product is because you want it.
- The proposal is actually very simple, even kids should understand: They have a service, it costs this much, there's a promotion today, it'll cost this much, for this long a contract. DO YOU WANT IT?
-They are not a charity, you greedy people, they have top of the line service and gear. PAY FOR IT. OR SAY NO.
-They don't target seniors, they target anyone that owns a home. (If your senior can't make decisions by themselves, shouldn't be living by themselves, be responsible).
SUMMARY: I recommend APX, it costs more, yes, it does more, and it's more reliable I give it 4.5/5 stars.
I worked with sales when I was younger, So I know most these negative reviews are from bitter people who sit in their homes all day waiting for a chance to be mean to someone at the door. Most these young men are honest trying to make money for college, to break the cycle of ignorance so many of us are a part of. Don't ruin their job, BE INFORMED.

Re: My APX Story

Lindsey,

I'm not exactly sure you read the post.

I never would have complained if APX did what their salesman said they would
do: provide me a working alarm system.

I'm glad to see APX winning awards. They came to your home and installed you a system so that your family would be safe. If all they want is your money, they could've screwed you over way better than that.
The fact of the matter is, every company is going to have good and bad reviews. If you want the most reliable way to be safe, you buy and pay for an alarm system. Get over it.

Re: My APX Story

Just read and replied to recent comments here. Like I said before, APX has made good on this problem and fixed it for me. I am glad about that.

What's interesting is that still, when I read all these comments, all the people who come here are defend APX have only one line of defense: "You signed the paper, YOU ARE AN IDIOT".

Nobody comes back to tell me examples of how incredible companies like Apple sell you computers that have nothing inside or that Toyota sells cars without engines or that Verizon phones are designed to not make phone calls... but "YOU SIGNED THE PAPER, YOU ARE AN IDIOT" is what they tell you when something goes wrong.

Please. If you're going to take the bandwidth to tell me I am a fool and I am wrong and I am the idiot who signed a paper, tell me examples of nationally/internationally known, well-respected companies in ANY industry that have the SAME business ethics as this, and that aren't deserving of all the scum flung at them from the people of earth.

EXAMPLES. please.

Oh, and your real name might be interesting, unless you want someone to find out who you are, lol. Maybe you'd need a security system then. I love it.

No problem with companies making money. I do it all day long. Lots of companies have proven that this is a viable way to generate income. Some people have found that fooling people into paying you for something that doesn't exist is a good way to generate income, too. Ask Bernard Madoff.

Re: My APX Story

Lol.

I never said I didn't make mistakes. Getting involved with this company was dumb on my part, but more foolish when I realized that when I had problems, they didn't care about me, or providing the service they promised to provide--they only wanted their money money money money.

RE letter c in your post, do you make car-payments for a car that was broken when you bought it? Do you pay a mortgage for a house the bank will not let you live in? Why should I pay for something that clearly does not or never did work out of the gate? The contract I thought I signed was: "I provide you security/alarm services. You pay me money." What I didn't realize was this company's contract really said: "You pay me money. Always. Over and over. Again and again. I might do something in return, but don't bet on it. If you don't like it, I will send you to collections. Either way, I will get my money and you might get something back... but, see above, don't bet on it."

Re: My APX Story

Oh my gosh! I see a pattern here!

Re: My APX Story

lol, no. I am very greatful for the system, and I suppose that since the company does nearly 300,000 + accounts each year; of course there are going to be those that are a unsatisfied. I feel bad for those who are unhappy with the company, but not everyone everywhere is in the same situation so I might suggest to those who are looking into an alarm, read the contract! And read up on the equipment. This APX alarm might work well for you! It works great for my family!

Re: My APX Story

Any business model that relies on "Well, you signed the contract, fork it over" isn't a business, it's a lie.

If my legal contract required payment for services that didn't work, and allowed me to still demand payment even if it didn't work, I would revise my contract or my services.

If other APX clients are happy, that's awesome. I just wasn't. I've never said the whole universe of APX clients never get their money's worth. Should it be going the other way I am 100% positive this same person would be SCREAMING that they had a LEGAL CONTRACT and that APX should honor it. Grow up you baby and realize that YOU SIGNED THE PAPER WORK! Blame no one but yourself for that. APX didn't force you into anything, you should have been RESPONSIBLE enough to investigate it before you signed up.

Re: My APX Story

I've worked for Apx for three years. I get paid everything on time and exactly what I'm supposed to get paid. They are the most honest, ethical, efficient, and successful organization I have ever worked for. I'm sorry to hear that some of you have had bad experiences. I've had so many positive experiences with Apx. I sell honestly and so does the rest of our office. If you don't like the liars, then don't sell with them--go with people you trust, not with the small percentage of the company force that are scumbags. We fire people in a heartbeat if they ever misrepresent the company to customers or lie about things. We don't tolerate dishonesty or unethical behavior. We work our butts off, honestly and ethically, and the rewards come. If I wasn't honest with people I'd feel awful. Thank goodness I am. Thank goodness most of the guys in our company are. It's funny that when people are happy and satisfied, they usually don't go out and blog--they don't care or have the time to. It usually is the upset ones that blog--so the majority of the positive experiences never get communicated in these kinds of forums. :) Oh well. I guess people will just have to investigate these things for themselves to discover the truth.
